01Who We Are
This site is operated by MacWin Consulting, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), which sells novelty fan towels at teartowels.com. This policy covers that website and any orders placed through it.
If you have a question about anything here, the fastest way to reach a human is [email protected].
02Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Order details — your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, phone number if you provide one, and what you ordered.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor, not by us. We receive a confirmation that payment succeeded, the card brand, and the last four digits. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages you send us — anything you write in a contact form, a support email, or a gift note.
- Email sign-ups — your email address, if you choose to give it to us for order updates or offers.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and screen size.
- Usage data — which pages you viewed, what you clicked, how long you stayed, and the site you came from.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 6.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, driver’s license number, financial account numbers, health information, biometric data, or precise geolocation. If you send any of it to us anyway, please don’t — we have no use for it.
03How We Use Your Information
We use what we collect for these purposes and no others:
- To process your order, charge the correct amount, and ship it to the right address.
- To send you transactional messages — order confirmations, shipping notices, tracking numbers, and delivery problems.
- To answer your questions and handle returns, exchanges, and refunds.
- To send marketing email, but only if you opted in, and every one of those messages has an unsubscribe link that works.
- To understand how the site is used so we can fix what is broken and improve what is not.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and chargebacks.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not hand it to anyone who does.
04We Do Not Sell Your Information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or license your personal information to anyone, for any amount of money or any other thing of value. We have never done it and we have no plans to start. Your information is used internally to run this store.
That includes data brokers, marketing list companies, affiliate networks, and other retailers. If we ever changed this, we would tell you first and give you a way to opt out before it took effect — not bury it in a policy update.
06Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them in three ways:
- Essential cookies — keep your cart working and your session alive. The site cannot function without these.
- Analytics cookies — tell us how many people visited, which pages they read, and where they gave up. We use Google Analytics for this.
- Advertising cookies — let us show ads for our towels to people who have already visited the site. We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for this.
An honest note about the advertising pixel. Retargeting works by letting the ad platform recognize that a browser visited our site. No money changes hands and we are not selling anything, but California law treats this kind of ad targeting as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can turn it off — see Section 10.
How to turn tracking off
- In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking essential cookies will break checkout.
- Google Analytics — install the opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Meta ads — adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
- Industry opt-outs — optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Global Privacy Control — we honor the GPC signal. If your browser or extension sends it, we treat it as an opt-out of ad sharing for that browser.
Browsers also offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is still no agreed standard for what a site should do with it, so we do not respond to DNT — but we do honor Global Privacy Control, which is the signal that carries legal weight.
07How Long We Keep Information
We keep information only as long as there is a reason to:
- Order and transaction records — retained for as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally seven years.
- Customer service messages — about 12 months, so we can pick up a thread if you write again.
- Marketing email addresses — until you unsubscribe. We keep a minimal suppression record after that, which exists only so we do not email you again by mistake.
- Analytics data — retained on the analytics provider’s standard schedule, generally no more than 26 months.
When the reason expires, we delete the information or strip out anything that identifies you.
08How We Protect Information
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Payment card data goes directly to a PCI-compliant payment processor and never lands on our servers. Access to order information is limited to the people who need it to do their job, and those accounts are protected with strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication.
We should be straight with you: no method of transmitting or storing data online is perfectly secure, and anyone who promises otherwise is overselling. We take reasonable precautions, and if a breach ever affected your information we would notify you as required by law.
09Your Choices & Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following. We do not charge for it and we will not treat you differently for asking.
- See what we have — ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it — tell us something is wrong and we will fix it.
- Delete it — ask us to erase it. We will, except for records we are legally required to keep, such as proof of a completed sale.
- Stop the email — click unsubscribe in any marketing message, or email us. Order and shipping notices will still go out, because you need those.
- Opt out of ad tracking — see Section 6.
Email [email protected] with your request and the email address you used to order. We will confirm receipt and respond within 45 days. We may need to verify it is really you before we hand over or delete anything — usually by confirming details of a recent order.
10Your California Privacy Rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you specific rights. Here is what we collect and why, in the categories that law uses.
| Category | Examples we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number, IP address | To fill and ship your order and answer your questions |
| Customer records | Name and address tied to a payment; card brand and last four digits | To take payment and handle refunds and disputes |
| Commercial information | Products ordered, order history, returns | To fulfill orders and provide support |
| Internet activity | Pages viewed, clicks, referring site, browser and device type | To measure and improve the site, and for retargeted ads |
| Inferences | General interest in our products, based on what you viewed | To show relevant ads and offers |
We collect these directly from you and automatically from your browser. We disclose them to the service providers listed in Section 5. We do not collect sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CPRA, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors under 16.
We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do share internet activity information for cross-context behavioral advertising through the advertising cookies described in Section 6, and you can opt out of that at any time.
Your rights
- Know what we collect, use, and disclose, and get a copy of it.
- Delete the information we hold, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Opt out of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information — not applicable here, since we do not collect any.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. You get the same prices and the same service either way.
How to exercise them
Email [email protected], or use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the site footer. You may also send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, which we honor automatically. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with written permission we can verify.
Shine the Light. California Civil Code § 1798.83 lets California residents ask once a year about personal information disclosed to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not make those disclosures, so our answer is always none.
Other states
Residents of states with comparable privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Montana — have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of targeted advertising. Use the same email address and we will handle your request the same way, including your right to appeal if we turn it down.
11Children’s Privacy
This is a store for adults buying gag gifts. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, email [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
12Third-Party Links
Our site may link to other sites — a carrier’s tracking page, a social profile, a payment page. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else’s site under someone else’s policy. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for how they handle your information, so it is worth reading their policy before you hand over anything.
13Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the business changes or the law does. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will give you notice by email or a clear notice on the site before it takes effect.
Using the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
